Durmitor is not a coastal day-drive with different scenery. Elevation, narrow roads, animals, sudden cloud and seasonal closures require a flexible route and a realistic turnaround point.
Vehicle and tyres
Choose for passenger count, luggage and season rather than appearance. Confirm tyre equipment and any winter obligation for your dates. A larger vehicle does not replace cautious driving on a narrow road.
Fuel, signal and daylight
Refuel before remote sections, download an offline map and keep water and a charged phone. Mobile coverage can vary. Plan to finish unfamiliar high roads in daylight.
